Community Spirit

Networkwise recently had the opportunity to be involved in a fantastic community project in Plettenberg Bay.

We look after several schools in the Garden Route area and our primary point of contact at Plett Primary asked us to call at a newly created primary school in Ladywood called Bahia Formosa School. We went and met the new principal and looked at what was suggested could be a computer room for the students. We also met with a fibre provider in Plett called Samarlink who run their own fibre in the town and allow ISPs to sell their Internet across it. Samarlink in turn put us in contact with Cool Ideas Service Provider who will graciously donate 20mbps of business grade Internet to the school free of charge.

This week we completed the installation of a brand-new computer room with 12 Dell workstations and a Dell Server. We installed a FortiGate firewall to secure the environment and we have further work to complete there to tidy up the old infrastructure. Samarlink for their part are almost ready to trench 500m to the nearest POP, free of charge. Once the fibre is in Cool Ideas will become their ISP and we will integrate the new fibre service into their environment.

We are absolutely delighted to have had the opportunity to be involved in this amazing project and to be able to give back to the community to help generate a better level of education for the children in Plettenberg Bay.
